About me ...

I am a native New Zealander (Kiwi) and I have been an
ordained minister since 1957.
I started my working life as a Coach Builder, then I
joined the Royal New Zealand Navy as a Seaman and stayed with the Navy for 3
years. Then I felt called to enter the ministry and studied for four years
in theological college. I was ordained in Dunedin and ministered there
for four years followed by a parish in Maungaturoto (north of Auckland).
Then I went as a missionary to Paupa New Guinea and I loved it there, the only
reason I came back to New Zealand again was because of my children's education
and career needs.
On my return I served in a parish in Central Otago for
five years and at the same time was employed by the Justice Department as a
chaplain in a boys prison then called Borstal. While there I became an
Army Territorial Chaplain and also trained as an Industrial Chaplain.
I then moved to a cooperating parish in Upper Hutt (Wellington) and also served
at the same time as an Army Chaplain to Linton Army Base in Palmerston North.
I continued to serve as an Industrial Chaplain in Upper Hutt and as well I was
the first Chaplain to be appointed to the Central Institute of Technology.
I was a visiting chaplain at Wi Tako Prison (now called Rimutaka Prison). I
then had a parish in New York on an exchange ministry which lasted 15 months.
Upon my return from New York, I helped out in a parish in Stokes Valley (Upper
Hutt) for about four years. This has given me the unique ability to communicate
and get on with people of all ages and backgrounds. Now I serve as a celebrant.
