This is a public park about 15km from Wellington Central. Through the wide open spaces runs this delightful stream with a lovely bridge crossing it amongst the trees.

I married a couple who met up on this very bridge, fell in love and decided to get married right on the spot they met - very romantic!

Trentham Race course is another popular place in Upper Hutt as it can cater for large functions, has beautiful grounds and is, of course, very spacious!
The view above and below are of the pergola in the grounds very near the reception rooms. The large mature trees make a wonderful backdrop and the riot of colour in the foregound give the area a fresh, alive feel!

These two pictures were taken in the late afternoon, the trees are shading the pergola.

The above view is of the Lady Noorswood Rose Garden with the Begonia house in the background. The begonia house can also be used for wedding etc as a backup for inclement weather or for winter weddings - but must be prearranged..

A very nice view for the spring flower beds in full bloom!

This is a very nice area not far from the main entrance to the Botannical Gardens - the spring tulips are amazing. There is a very nice fountain and a grassy area that would hold a wedding party very nicely!

This is another supurb area for a wedding - the pergola beside the duck-pond - fantastic setting.

And there is also a large grassy flat area just above the duck pond (you can just make out the roof of the pergola in the background)

Old St. Paul's |
Mulgrave Street, Wellington |
|
The Cathedral Church of St, Paul built also to serve as the parish church of Thorndon, was consecrated in 1866. It was designed in late Early English Gothic style by the Rev. Frederick Thatcher, noted for the churches he built in the North Island for Bishop Selwyn. This, his finest work, was built in native timbers: totara, matai, rimu and kauri. It was altered and enlarged several times over the years by several architects including Christian Julius Toxward and Frederick de Jersey Clere, Diocesan Architect from 1883. In 1954 a new Cathedral was begun, with the intention of demolishing the old one. After much protest the decision was finally reversed in 1966 and Old St Pauls, as it is now known, was taken over by the government. The church has a superb timber interior, stained glass windows and memorial brasses, with a carved oak pulpit in memory of popular Premier Richard ("King Dick") Seddon. Old St. Paul's attracts thousands of visitors each year and is a popular venue for weddings and other services. Open daily 10.00am - 5.00pm Closed Good Friday and Christmas Day tel/fax:
